Writing Beyond the Veil with Carly Message on Tuesday, April 7th from 7 to 8:30 pm

on Tuesday, April 7th from 7 to 8:30 pm @ the Workshop Gallery in Building 3 at Ball & Socket Arts

As trees stand stripped of their vibrant foliage and fields and gardens lie seemingly lifeless under a layer of snow, we are reminded that death is a part of the circle of life. As such, this primeval knowledge is reflected in the ubiquitous theme of death in poetry. In this workshop we will explore categories of poetry dealing with death (e.g. grief/loss, mortality, the macabre, socio-political, the natural world, celebratory/afterlife, war) while discussing techniques such as form, metaphor, personification, etc.

Our relationship to death is influenced by culture but is intensely personal and simultaneously universal. By studying other works and learning from each other, we will craft poetry that expresses our own unique nexus.

Workshop is limited to 12 participants, so be sure to register now! Writers at all levels are welcome to attend.

$30 gets you 90 minutes of instruction in the Workshop Gallery at Ball & Socket Arts. If cost presents a barrier to your participation, please reach out to our team for options at info@ballandsocket.org
