Evening In White
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Evening in White all about?
Cheshire’s Evening in White was inspired by the original “Dîner en Blanc” in Paris where a man, wanting to reconnect with friends, invited guests to dress all in white and gather for a pop-up picnic in a beautiful open-air setting, revealed to them only at the last minute. Over the last 4 years our event has followed a similar path and our gathering has grown. Friends have come together and new friendships have been made as we continue to celebrate summer, community, nature and the arts!
Where is it located?
Our guests will enjoy a night of live entertainment in an undisclosed location in Cheshire. Information about where to park for the event will be supplied to guests via email as the event draws closer.
What should I wear?
Guests are asked to dress in all white. We know this can be more difficult for the guys so “summer whites” work with light beige or gray pants or shorts and a white shirt. Sensible shoes should be considered. Feel free to be creative!
How long will the event be?
Our parking location will open at 6:00 pm on July 21st. Transportation to the site will run until all guests are transported. The event ends promptly at 10:00 pm with return transportation starting at 9:15 pm.
Is Dinner Served?
Guests are encouraged to bring their own picnic dinner and beverages or you can purchase a boxed dinner by Spice Catering by visiting our registration site. Dinners are 3-courses and priced at $35/each. Dinner plates and utensils will be provided if you are purchasing a boxed dinner.
Will there be adult beverages served?
We will be offering a Ball & Socket Arts glass for $20 which includes 1 free drink. This glass can be brought to future Ball & Socket Arts events where you’ll receive 1 free drink ticket. Additional drink tickets will be for sale for $6 each. Water will be provided free of charge.
Who will I be sitting with?
Tables will be set up in groups of 8. Guests that have signed up together will be seated together. If you’d like to be seated with specific guests that are also attending, please email us at sbergamo@ballandsocket.org by July 11th. We will do our best to accommodate all requests.
Can I bring my kids and pets?
Evening in White is really an adult event as alcoholic beverages will be served. If you do choose to register your children, the price would be the same as an adult. Only service animals would be allowed and must be leashed at all times.
Will there be a Silent Auction with the event?
Yes! Our Silent Auction will go “live and online” starting on Tuesday, June 21st and bids will be accepted through July 21st ending at 9:00 pm. Items will be on display at Evening in White (weather permitting).
What is the Raffle all about?
We are selling Raffle Tickets for a VIP All-Inclusive trip for 2 adults to the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. You will travel as guests of members of the vacation club and receive member benefits such as butler service, reserved pool/beach seating, priority restaurant reservations and more. First Class airfare is included. Some blackout dates apply but can be accommodated with an additional charge. Included travel dates are primarily September-January (excluding Christmas and New Year’s).
Where does the money go?
Net proceeds from the Evening in White will support Ball & Socket Arts, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, in their efforts to reclaim the faded beauty of the historic button factory. This project will be a centerpiece to provide programs for the community to experience the arts in an inspired gathering space.
